What are injectable fillers? (Juvederm or Restylane)

Injectable fillers are used tp plump lips, smooth wrinkles and folds, and fill in the under-eye hollows. They can also add volume to cheeks, reduce appearance of acne scars, and help with lip lines.

Fillers are made up of a natural ingredient called hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is already a part of our skin integrity but overtime, this helpful molecule decreases in quantity which can lead to volume loss and aging. The steady decrease of HA begins in our late 20s and steadily downward slopes from there on out. Using HA in injectable fillers is a safe and natural way to reverse and or prevent the signs aging. They give a youthful yet natural appearance.

Which brand of filler is best for me?

While our fillers are all made of hyaluronic acid (HA), there are a couple of different brands. Juvederm and Restylane are the two most superior brands of HA fillers due to their safety and efficacy. Each of them individually or combined can help give you the desired results. Our cosmetic team at Thrive can help you decide which one is best for you.

What are injectable neuromodulators? (Botox or Dysport)

Neuromodulators are short acting paralytics. This means that if they are injected into a strong muscle it can decrease its strength and activity. As we age, our muscles become stronger and stronger, leading to repetitive motions that cause lines and wrinkles to form. Most commonly these areas are between our eyes (glabella), forehead, and around the eyes (crows feet). If we inject a neuromodulator (Botox or filler) locally and specifically into these muscles and areas, we can decrease their strength which ultimately helps decrease these lines in our faces that occur overtime.

Which brand is best for me?

Botox or Dysport both have the same mechanism of action and are virtually identical. However, sometimes patients prefer one over the other. Our cosmetic team at Thrive can help you decide which one is best for you.
